The Harmony Torquay Access Statement:

In order to meet the legal obligations under the Equality Act 2010, we are pleased to share The Harmony’s Access Statement:


We aim to make everyone’s stay as comfortable as possible. We are family run by a husband and wife team. We have 8 bedrooms, 2 of which are on the ground floor. One is a double and the other is a twin room. To request the ground floor double room (Room 2) please contact us directly as we cannot guarantee that this room is available via online booking websites. These rooms are close to the entrance and can be accessed by a four steps leading from the car park to the reception lobby. A ramp can be provided for wheelchair and mobility scooters. Please let us know in advance if the ramp is required. Please note that The Harmony is an Edwardian Villa dating back to the 1850s, and as such their is no lift to the upper floors.

Public Areas:

The dining room is located on the lower-ground floor. It can be accessed via one of two staircases. One staircase is equipped with a stair lift (115kg max). The guest lounge, honesty bar and reception are on the ground floor. The Harmony has two car parks, one on Avenue Road and a smaller parking area (3 cars) can be found on Vine Road. Both car parks are concreted and do not have gravel. To reach the reception there are four 12cm (height) steps with a handrail. There is a raised smoking area located on the far side of the Avenue Road car park that can be reached via two 18cm (height) steps from the car park or one 10cm (height) step from the side entrance off the ground floor. All of the internal areas of The Harmony are carpeted with the exception of the en-suites that have lino.


Our first floor bedrooms can be reached via a split-staircase with 21 steps (handrail). Every double bed (standard double – Rooms 2, 4, 5 and 9; king size bed – Rooms 6 and 7, super-king size bed – Room 8, can be accessed from both sides). Every bedroom has raised electrical sockets.


  • We provide a pick-up and drop-off service for guests that are arriving at Torre or Torquay train station but please note this is only available via prior arrangement.
  • We will provide luggage assistance to any of the rooms from the car park and luggage storage on your last day.
  • Service dogs are welcome.
  • Taxi and restaurant booking services are free of charge.
  • Fire exits and Emergency Meeting Points are clearly identified.
  • Maps can be provided from reception.
